Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a remote Territory Manager, Specialty Care Business Development, to market, underwrite and lead key agency relationships in the Eastern Time Zone. The role focuses on Commercial Lines Middle Market within Human Services and Nonprofit sectors, with extensive travel and agency development responsibilities.

Qualified candidates bring 7+ years of underwriting and sales experience, a strong ability to build partnerships, and deep knowledge of commercial policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Seven years of progressive underwriting and sales experience in commercial business.
• Knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing and coverage for middle market business.
• Ability to build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong decision-making in day-to-day operations with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Market, manage and underwrite commercial business with select agencies or brokers.
• Drive profit and premium to meet financial goals through business plans.
• Lead agencies by creating sales strategies to increase sales and retention.
• Research risk factors to win accounts and prepare risk reports.
• Analyze underwriting performance and propose territory improvements.
• Quote, price and underwrite new and renewal policies for complex accounts.
• Monitor risk selection and pricing decisions across the agency plant.
• Develop robust agency business planning with defined actions and checkpoints.
• Communicate market intelligence and product changes to agencies and leaders.
• Develop new accounts and service existing ones while maintaining relationships.
