Job summary
Defense Unicorns is seeking a Senior-level Engineer to lead the development of our Autonomy and Unmanned Systems domain. This remote, US-based role will supervise software engineers and DevSecOps staff, define the technical roadmap, and ensure secure, scalable delivery across edge, remote, and disconnected environments.
You’ll collaborate with platform engineers, warfighters, and product managers to translate mission objectives into robust, usable systems.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading technical teams developing complex software systems.
- Hands-on depth in two areas: autonomous systems, tactical-edge networking, distributed systems, or container tooling.
- Familiar with ROS2/DDS, MAVLink, CoT/TAK, and interoperability standards.
- Experience leading remote engineering teams and defining roadmaps.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical staff and baseline for Autonomous and Unmanned Systems.
- Own architectural decisions aligning with secure SDLC and CI/CD.
- Mentor engineers and foster technical excellence.
- Define technical priorities with product management; manage complexity.
- Ensure cohesive architecture and integration with common platform baseline.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and user acceptance testing strategies.
