Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to contribute to open source products. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and end users to build the right solutions and ensure high quality delivery.

You will lead design, implementation, and deployment of features with direct impact on mission outcomes, while bridging product development and open source contribution. Remote USA, competitive compensation.

Qualifications

5+ years experience in software engineering.
Proficient in Go and at least one other modern language.
Experience contributing to Open Source projects (CNCF/ASF/OpenSSF a plus).
Strong understanding of system design, APIs, and cloud architectures (AWS, Azure).
Familiarity with Core Kubernetes concepts such as Controllers, Operators, and CRDs.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and end users to define features and ensure quality.
Lead design, implementation, and deployment of features and systems with mission impact.
Engage with the open source community and industry partners to advance projects.
Mentor teammates and elevate engineering standards across the team.
Ensure secure, interoperable integration with defense systems and adhere to security protocols.
