Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the Autonomy and Unmanned Systems Domain, guiding a distributed team of software and DevSecOps engineers. You will deliver interfaces for asset management across fleets, design data-rich UIs, and deploy workflows for edge, remote, and disconnected environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading technical teams developing complex software systems.
• Expertise solving highly technical problems spanning multiple knowledge domains.
• Hands-on technical depth in two or more areas: autonomous/unmanned systems; tactical-edge networking; distributed systems; container tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical staff and baseline for Defense Unicorns’ Autonomous and Unmanned Systems Domain.
• Own architectural decisions aligned with secure software development, application security, and CI/CD best practices.
• Mentor engineers across the team to foster technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Communicate technical priorities with product management and manage technical complexity and scalability.
• Ensure cohesive architecture across Defense Unicorns capabilities and integration with the platform baseline.
• Translate operational imperatives into product capabilities and guide development toward mission objectives.
• Serve as the technical leader across software, communications, and platform technologies with other teams.
• Implement features and testing strategies to improve mission effectiveness and user experience.
• Collaborate with Mission Heroes and stakeholders to define a roadmap aligned with goals.
