Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a remote Outpatient/Coding Production Operations professional to perform complex professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM) for physician services in both office and hospital settings. You will apply modifiers and E/M guidelines with precision and may handle entry-level facility coding for simple encounters using ICD-10-CM/PCS.

Required are active AAPC or AHIMA certifications (dual preferred) and a completed accredited medical coding/HIM program or equivalent

Qualifications

• Active coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA required; dual certifications preferred.
• Completion of an accredited medical coding or HIM program (or equivalent experience).
• Foundational facility coding experience via education, externship, or work.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM) for physician services in office and hospital settings, with modifiers and E/M guidance.
• Perform entry-level facility coding for simple outpatient encounters and basic inpatient services using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Ensure coding adheres to official guidelines, CMS regulations, and departmental standards.
• Identify need for clinical queries to clarify documentation for professional or facility records.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity; may guide new staff on coding nuances.
