Job summary

Leidos Engineering seeks a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility sector to lead design reviews of steel and concrete structures, foundations, and related components for substation projects. The role includes mentoring junior staff, performing design reviews to codes and seismic criteria, and conducting site-visits with occasional travel to client facilities and industry events.

Portland, OR is the preferred location; remote work is considered for Pacific/Mountain

Qualifications

BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
PE License preferred in California, Washington, Oregon OR the ability to obtain licensure in these states within 3-12 months.
SE licensure is preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software, required
Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile software, required
Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation required
Strong analytical and technical writing skills
Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff

Responsibilities

Lead design reviews and projects for substation civil/structural components.
Develop junior staff and mentor engineers and designers.
Perform site visits to client substations and occasional travel for meetings and events.
Ensure compliance with codes and seismic loading criteria during design and reviews.
