Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility industry to lead design reviews and senior project work. The role involves validating steel/concrete structures, foundations, and seismic designs, with site visits and occasional travel.

Preferred location is Portland, OR; remote work possible if aligned with time zones. The team emphasizes mentorship of junior staff and adherence to project scope and budget.

Qualifications

BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years.
PE license preferred for CA/WA/OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months.
SE licensure is preferred.
Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD; design/review of substation structures with seismic considerations.

Responsibilities

Lead substation civil/structural design projects and reviews.
Perform design reviews of steel/concrete structures, foundations, oil containment, retaining walls, shelters, and fire-walls.
Develop junior staff and mentor engineers/drafters.
Conduct site visits to client substations and travel as required.
