Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility field to lead design reviews and develop bid/construction packages for substation projects. The role involves mentoring junior staff and occasional site visits, with preferred Portland, OR location or remote within Pacific/Mountain Time Zones.

Candidates should have a strong background in steel and concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations, plus experience with major structural software.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• PE license preferred in CA, WA, OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months.
• SE licensure is preferred.
• Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MathCAD software required.
• Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile software required.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation required.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
• Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects.
• Develop bid/construction packages for substation projects.
• Mentor and develop junior staff.
• Travel to client sites and attend industry-related meetings as needed.
