Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility industry to lead design reviews and projects for substations.

The role focuses on steel and concrete structures, foundations, seismic design, and client communications, with occasional site visits and travel. Portland, OR is preferred, or remote within Pacific/Mountain Time zones. Candidates should have BS in Civil-Structural Engineering, PE licensure preferred, and experience with STAAD.Pro and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years.
PE license preferred in CA, WA, OR; ability to obtain in 3–12 months.
SE licensure preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and MATHCAD.
Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff.

Responsibilities

Lead projects and perform design reviews of civil/structural components for substations.
Develop junior staff and mentor team members.
Review substation structure, rigid bus, foundation, oil containment, walls and shelters.
Work on bid/construction packages and conduct site visits as needed.
