Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility sector to lead design reviews and develop junior staff. The role emphasizes structural and foundation design, seismic loading compliance, and client communication.

Preferred location is Portland, OR, with site visits and occasional travel. The position supports licensure advancement within CA/WA/OR and collaboration with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years.
• PE license preferred in CA, WA, OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months.
• SE licensure is preferred.
• Experience with Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD.
• Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, LPile.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
• Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews of civil/structural components for bid/construction packages.
• Perform design and reviews for structures and foundations under seismic loading.
• Develop junior staff and mentor design engineers.
• Coordinate site visits to client substations and travel as needed.
