Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Substation Protection & Control Designer for a REMOTE role.

You will develop protection and control design deliverables for utility substation projects across the United States, collaborating with engineers, designers, and drafters to produce high-quality drawings. This role requires knowledge of NEC/NESC/IEEE codes, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with remotely located teammates.

Qualifications

• Drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Proficiency with NESC, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards.
• Ability to create and modify drawings from markups with high attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional work teams.
• Experience in creating and reviewing substation design drawings.
• Ability to work with remotely located team members.
• Post-offer drug and alcohol testing per Federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation drawings with input from engineers and other drawings with high accuracy.
• Mentor team of designers and support project teams as needed.
• Support pre-bid walkdowns, proposals and project estimates for new work.
• Perform quality reviews and peer checks as assigned.
• Coordinate with Project Management to develop project plans and updates.
