Job summary

ENERCON’s Substation Group is seeking a Substation Drafter Designer - Protection & Controls for multiple U.S. locations, including Remote. The role may be filled as a Drafter or Designer based on qualifications.

You will design substation protection drawings and collaborate with engineers to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery. The position requires knowledge of relay protection schemes, experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD, and a willingness to travel for client site visits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of Substation drafting or designing experience focusing on protection and control projects.
• Familiarity with relay protection schemes.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Willingness to enter energized substations with proper training and PPE.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings.

Responsibilities

• Substation Design & Drafting: Develop drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and building layouts.
• Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform basic design calculations such as voltage drop and conduit fill.
• Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work with peers to ensure accurate, on-time delivery meeting standards.
• Field Support: Provide on-site technical support during construction and commissioning as required.
