Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to guide our Substation Design Team on high voltage projects up to 500 kV. This REMOTE WORK role is US-based and requires strong leadership and client-relations skills; PE preferred.

The position emphasizes applying NEC/IEEE standards, preparing detailed design packages, and coordinating with offshore and remote personnel. Proactive bid support and accurate deliverables are vital.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in protection and control design; senior levels possible.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work with remotely located team members.
• Experience with high voltage projects to 500 kV.

Aufgaben

• Apply NEC, NESC, NEMA, ANSI, IEEE standards to engineering designs.
• Provide technical support as a resource under supervision.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers on detailed electrical design and project management.
• Participate in project conceptualization, planning, and execution.
• Support pre-bid walkdowns and prepare proposals and estimates.
• Prepare substation design packages including diagrams and SCADA lists.
• Perform standard calculations (battery, voltage drop, CT saturation, cable sizing).
• Responsible for substation drawings and package quality review.
