Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Supervisor for Protection & Controls to lead a remote Substation Engineering team across the US. You will guide design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical substations, ensuring high standards and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities include mentoring designers, managing budgets, coordinating with project managers, and maintaining regulatory compliance. PE preferred; remote position with market-competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design of electrical substations.
• PE license highly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to organize multiple protection & controls design assignments and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of designers in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical substations.
• Manage execution of protection & controls design projects of all sizes, including resource planning, risk management, and project delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to direct reports and ensure best practices are followed.
• Act as primary point of contact for clients, ensuring strong communication throughout project lifecycles.
• Oversee preparation of P&C designs and ensure timely resolution of design issues.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations for electrical substations.
• Perform quality reviews of direct reports' work.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize substation design and maintenance processes.
