SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own the preliminary design and engineering lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• 3+ years in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or ETAP software.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, NESC standards.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Aufgaben

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects by defining design basis, assumptions, equipment requirements, layouts, quantities, risks, and open items for the 10% design deliverable.
• Review client documents, PPAs, interconnection agreements, and related project information to identify requirements, risks, and scope.
• Serve as the primary substation design SME coordinating inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, scheduling, and other stakeholders.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings to support estimating.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to align preliminary design, scope, and commercial assumptions.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and identify gaps and exclusions requiring clarification.
• Deliver the owner reviewed preliminary design to estimating and BD per schedule.
• Participate in client meetings to review technical exhibits and clarify requirements outside SOLV standards.
• Support contractual reviews and responses for LNTP, escalating risks and non-standard requirements.
• Communicate design decisions and open items clearly to stakeholders.
• Prepare proposal information for EORs and subcontractors and review received proposals.
• Align EOR/subcontractor proposals with project scope and LNTP requirements.
• Prepare engineering scope, schedule inputs, and handoff details for Preconstruction Engineering.
• Support handoff by transferring RFIs and design risks to HV engineering.
• Review and approve preliminary design deliverables for compliance with agreements and standards.
• Propose cost-effective, constructible alternatives and resolve design challenges with internal teams.
• Maintain documentation of design iterations and handoffs.
• Identify recurring issues and suggest process improvements.
• Assign and coordinate work for designers and engineers and review for quality and schedule.
• Mentor junior team members and identify training needs.
