SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation for a fully remote role serving solar, BESS, and related interconnection projects nationwide. You will own the preliminary substation design, align inputs from multiple stakeholders, and guide the 10% design through to Preconstruction handoff.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in electrical substation engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD/ETAP, and knowledge of IEEE/NEC/NESC standards. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and ETAP or similar.
• Strong understanding of IEEE, NEC, NESC standards.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsabilités

• Own preliminary substation design for assigned pursuits and projects.
• Review client documents, technical exhibits, PPAs, interconnection agreements to identify requirements, assumptions and risks.
• Serve as primary substation design SME and coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, estimating, and other teams.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to align design, quantities, and commercial assumptions.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and identify gaps or exclusions.
• Deliver owner-reviewed preliminary design to estimating and BD per schedule.
• Participate in client meetings to discuss technical exhibits and requirements.
• Support LNTP reviews and escalate non-standard requirements or risks.
• Communicate design decisions and required inputs clearly to stakeholders.
• Prepare and issue proposal information to EORs and subcontractors.
• Align proposals with project scope, estimate, schedule, and LNTP requirements.
• Handoff to Preconstruction Engineering with RFIs, client comments, and design risks.
• Mentor junior team members and identify training needs in substation design.
