SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own the preliminary design lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. This fully remote role will coordinate with engineers, procurement, and estimating to deliver a compliant 10% design. Local travel up to 10% may be required as needed.

Minimum 3+ years in electrical substation engineering with AutoCAD/ETAP proficiency. PE licensure is a plus; strong communication and leadership skills are essential.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
• PE licensure is a nice-to-have, not mandatory.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar software.
• Strong understanding of substation design principles and industry standards.
• Knowledge of interconnection requirements and contract language.

Responsabilidades

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design and define design basis, assumptions, equipment, layouts, quantities, risks, and open items.
• Review client documents, PPAs, interconnection agreements, and related project information for requirements and risks.
• Serve as the primary substation design SME and coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, estimating, scheduling, and other specialists.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design, including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to align design, quantities, scope narrative, schedule, and commercial assumptions.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and identify gaps or required clarifications.
• Deliver the owner-reviewed preliminary design to estimating and BD per the stage-gate schedule.
• Participate in routine client meetings to review technical exhibits and clarify requirements.
