Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our remote-first accounting and finance team, reporting to the Controller. This role supports month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and audits while ensuring GAAP compliance and internal control adherence.

Ideal candidates have an undergraduate accounting/finance degree with 2–3 years of experience, strong Excel (pivot, VLOOKUP), and prior ERP exposure (Sage Intacct). Excellent communication and multitasking abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Preferred undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance with 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Experience with ERP system Sage Intacct preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Clear verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist month-end close with balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors with requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, policies and internal controls.
