Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team, reporting to the Controller. This key role supports day-to-day accounting tasks and month-end close processes in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.

You will prepare journal entries, perform bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure GAAP compliance. Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred) help you deliver accurate financial reporting and support audits.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently to deliver accurate results.
• Ability to communicate with senior management.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
