Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the accounting and finance team, reporting to the Controller. This role focuses on day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, and supporting month-end close while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of accounting experience, an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, and proficiency in Advanced Excel. Remote-first work with national reach is offered along with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance with 2–3 years accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP standards.
