Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team and design electric transmission lines from 46kV to 345 kV. You will apply NESC, ASCE, and ACI standards and prepare bidding documents, plans, and construction packages for utility projects.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with at least four years of relevant experience, plus experience with PLS-CADD, POLE, and Office tools. Some travel and client interface are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and minimum of four years of prior relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems.
• Experience reviewing full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material, plan and profiles, and construction packages.
• Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement process; project schedules; and construction work packages.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
• Ability to work effectively in team environment but also able to work independently.
• Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams.
• Work in client office is a possibility and/or periodic travel may be required.
• Program Expertise: PLS-CADD and POLE; LPILE or FAD Tools; Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design HV transmission lines from 46kV to 345 kV.
• Apply standards (NESC, ASCE, ACI) in overhead system design.
• Prepare bidding documents, plans and specifications.
• Prepare material procurement and construction documents.
• Interface with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management teams.
