Job summary

ABB Inc. in the United States is seeking a Senior Technical Business Developer to lead customer engagement for the sub-transmission portfolio, focusing on 72.5-145 kV Dead Tank Circuit Breakers. This hybrid role bridges product management and sales, coordinating with the Product Marketing Director and Global Portfolio Management.

This is a remote position with preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX, requiring up to 30% travel to support utilities, EPCs, and OEMs across the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering field.
• 10+ years of experience in high voltage equipment (circuit breakers or substation components).
• Deep understanding of sub-transmission applications and US utility processes.
• Proven experience in technical sales, product management, or business development.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with vacuum interrupter tech and SF6-free solutions/regulation.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI standards for HV products.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Market strategy & growth: Drive U.S. subtransmission market expansion and develop new utility/EPC/OEM opportunities.
• Technical leadership: Lead configuration discussions, advanced feature evaluations, and presales solution design.
• Standards & industry influence: Ensure IEEE/ANSI compliance and represent ABB in industry bodies.
• Partnerships & product innovation: Build strategic ecosystem relationships and guide product evolution toward SF6-free technology.
