Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Technical Business Developer to lead customer engagement for our 72.5-145 kV Dead Tank Circuit Breakers, bridging product management and sales. This remote role supports the US market with flexibility for Cary, NC or Houston, TX, and reports to the Product Marketing Director.

You will drive market strategy, oversee technical discussions, and influence standards while shaping partnerships and product evolution to meet utility needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience with high voltage equipment, preferably circuit breakers or substation components.
• Deep understanding of sub-transmission applications and US utility processes.
• Proven experience in technical sales, product management, or business development.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with vacuum interrupter technology and SF6-free solutions/regulation.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI standards for high-voltage products.

Responsibilities

• Market strategy & growth - Drive U.S. subtransmission market expansion by developing new utility/EPC/OEM opportunities, shaping go-to-market plans, and securing product homologation.
• Technical leadership - Lead configuration discussions, advanced feature evaluations, and presales solution design.
• Standards & industry influence - Ensure IEEE/ANSI compliance, represent the company in industry bodies, and shape evolving technical specifications.
• Partnerships & product innovation - Build strategic ecosystem relationships and guide product evolution, digital integration, and SF6-free technology adoption.
