Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud-based systems, maintain production stability, and drive incident resolution.

You will collaborate with the VA department to implement IaC, CI/CD, monitor performance, and ensure security and compliance while documenting procedures. This role requires 8+ years in systems engineering and a strong background in SQL monitoring.

Qualifications

• Requires strong cloud experience with AWS/Azure and production systems.
• Proven ability to manage and maintain large-scale production environments.
• Proficiency in Linux/Windows administration and scripting for automation.
• Experience with CI/CD and IaC tooling for reliable deployments.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for cloud systems and applications.
• Diagnose, document, and rapidly resolve outages in production environments.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to maintain uptime.
• Implement continuous improvement via IT systems and procedures.
• Maintain inventory and ensure VA security policy compliance.
• Develop automation, monitoring, and runbooks for reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required.
• Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and IaC.
• Document configurations, processes, and preventive measures.
• Support security audits and data integrity initiatives.
• Coordinate with development, operations, and security teams.
