Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud systems in a 100% U.S.-based remote role. You will manage outages, document issues, and collaborate with VA stakeholders to maintain system reliability.

The role requires 8+ years in systems engineering, 3+ years SQL monitoring, and strong Cloud/AWS/Azure, Linux/Windows, and CI/CD expertise.

Qualifications

8+ years in systems engineering, production environments.
3+ years with SQL queries and monitoring.
Experience with AWS/Azure (S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch).
Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows.
Automation and configuration management (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Experience with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Willingness to be on-call for production support.

Responsibilities

Perform high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
Follow standard practices in analyzing situations or data to derive answers.
Detect, isolate, document, and rapidly resolve outages or problems in production systems.
Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
Work directly with the customer in daily activities.
Respond to user calls regarding hardware/software issues and escalate as needed.
Communicate status of key issues to users and senior management.
Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
