Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud-based systems in a VA deployment. This remote role demands on-call availability and strict adherence to security standards.

The role emphasizes automation, troubleshooting, and collaboration across engineering, operations, and security to ensure system reliability and compliance with VA policies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field, especially in production environments.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL queries and monitoring.
• Experience with AWS and Azure Cloud services, Linux/Windows administration.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with IaC and CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level day-to-day operational support of cloud-based systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Document issues and resolutions clearly in logging tools.
• Work with customers on day-to-day activities and escalations as needed.
• Maintain system assets and ensure compliance with VA standards.
