Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to deliver high-level operational support for complex cloud systems. The role involves analyzing outages, implementing fixes, and coordinating with customers and cross-functional teams to maintain system reliability.

The position requires 8+ years in production systems engineering, 3+ years with SQL monitoring, and strong Cloud, scripting, and IaC skills.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, production environments.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL queries and monitoring.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud, including S3, Step Functions, Batch Jobs, CloudWatch.
• Proven track record managing and maintaining large-scale production systems.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows operating system skills.
• Automation and configuration management with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with the customer in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls and escalate as needed.
• Maintain computing infrastructure and perform installations.
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies.
