Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud systems. The role focuses on diagnosing outages, maintaining infrastructure, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability.

The position is 100% remote within the United States, with a Public Trust (MBI) clearance requirement and a Veterans Affairs department alignment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of systems engineering experience in production environments.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms and services (S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch).
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows administration skills; scripting for automation.
• Experience with IaC and CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
• Security/compliance focus and ability to work with VA standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day production support for complex cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Install, maintain, and monitor computing infrastructure.
• Diagnose outages, document issues, and coordinate rapid recovery.
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams.
• Prepare documentation and training materials; ensure data integrity.
