Job summary

Syms Strategic Group seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud-based systems. The role emphasizes availability, fault resolution, and continuous improvement across AWS/Azure, Linux/Windows, and automated deployments.

We require 8+ years in production environments and 3+ years of SQL querying/monitoring, with strong collaboration across development, operations, and security teams to ensure reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, production environments.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL queries and monitoring.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud, and cloud-native technologies.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows system administration.
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and IaC tools.
• Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing data.
• Detect, isolate, report, and resolve system outages; recover systems.
• Document problems in logging/discrepancy tools.
• Work with the customer in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to hardware/software issues and escalate as needed.
• Communicate status to users and senior management.
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA security compliance.
• Provide documentation, training, and other duties as assigned.
