Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote US-based position within the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. • Must have strong programming skills in languages such as C#, .Net, Java, or Python.
• Experience on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
• Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion).
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of database/SQL validation for stored data.
• Experience in testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices and tools
• Experience with different testing types: functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Mentor and guide junior testers.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure information systems meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans, schedules, and approaches.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Requirement Leads, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure defect-free operation of IT systems.
• Perform verification activities on work products using defined methods and criteria.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis of test results and resolution of open issues.
• Document and work to resolve complex problems.
• Report progress on problem resolution to management.
• Devise improvements to procedures and models of future configurations.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities as needed.
• Apply technical principles and concepts to the field.
• Receive assignments and establish goals.
• Provide direction to employees according to policies and guidance.
• Measure whether objectives have been met.
• Provide technical solutions to difficult problems.
• Ensure solutions are imaginative, thorough, and align with objectives.
• Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
