Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role supporting Veterans Affairs (VA) projects. The position offers a salary range of $85,389–$116,975 and requires strong programming skills with eligibility for a Public Trust (MBI).

You will develop and execute test plans, write test cases and scripts, and lead verification activities across web APIs and services. Experience with manual and automated testing, Agile/Scrum, test automation tools, CI/CD, and

Qualifications

Must have strong programming skills in C#, Java or Python.
Experience on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
Experience in both manual and automated testing.
Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion).
Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
Knowledge of API/web service testing.
Understanding of security testing practices.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures.
Write test cases and scripts, identify data for test scenarios.
Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Requirement Leads, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
Perform and lead tests to ensure defect-free operation of IT systems.
Document and communicate test results and analysis of results.
