Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, focusing on solar, battery storage, and high voltage substations. This remote SCADA Design Lead role drives in-house design workstreams for utility-scale PV, BESS, and other projects, ensuring standards, project handoff, and long-term reliability.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with the OT team, and deliver comprehensive design documentation, while adhering to SOLV standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy, utility-scale PV/BESS/Wind.
• Direct experience drafting SCADA, Networking, electrical, and/or substation drawings.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Proficient with Layer 2/3 networking concepts and architectures.
• Knowledge of SCADA networks and industrial protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA).
• Excellent communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-house SCADA design for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Develop designs in AutoCAD and Visio to support large-scale SCADA systems.
• Define, document, and continuously improve SCADA design standards and best practices.
• Own and drive cross-functional requirements gathering and translate into scalable designs.
• Create detailed design documents including diagrams, port maps, and BOMs for SCADA systems.
• Review drawings at standard revision intervals and mentor junior engineers.
• Coordinate with SOLV OT to define hardware requirements and identify risks.
• Drive standardization and process improvements to reduce effort and improve reliability.
• Lead system design reviews in customer meetings and FAT engagements.
• Support on-site commissioning and handoff for long-term reliability.
• Promote NERC compliance and governance for design, documentation, and training.
