Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering preferred.
• 6-8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy including PV, BESS or Wind; SCADA experience.
• Direct experience drafting SCADA, Networking, electrical and substation drawings.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking.
• Advanced knowledge of SCADA networks using Fiber Optics, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet TCP/IP.
• Advanced knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA.
• Ability to read and develop diagrams and schematics for power systems and control.
• Knowledge of power plant operating procedures and governance with entities like ISO/Transmission Operators.
• Strong collaboration with subcontractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools.
• Excellent communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own in-house design of SCADA monitoring and control systems for large-scale renewable energy projects.
• Develop designs in AutoCAD, Visio and other tools to support SCADA systems.
• Define and improve SCADA design standards for quality and consistency.
• Own review of scope documents and translate requirements into scalable system designs.
• Create and approve detailed design documentation including diagrams and BOMs.
• Perform senior-level reviews of SCADA drawings and issue redlines.
• Maintain drawing review quality standards across the team.
• Serve as escalation point for SCADA configurations and technical issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster learning and engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with SOLV OT to define hardware requirements and mitigate risks.
• Drive standardization to reduce effort and improve long-term reliability.
• Generate project documentation in Visio and AutoCAD (block diagrams, elevations, routing, wiring).
• Develop training materials and provide status updates including risk assessments.
• Promote NERC compliance in design standards, documentation and reporting.
• Operate in ambiguous problem spaces and guide cross-functional solutions.
• Lead special projects researching SCADA equipment and emerging tech.
• Represent SOLV in customer meetings and technical reviews as senior SCADA lead.
• Interface with 3rd party integrators for SCADA rack and field network assembly.
• Lead system design review portions of FATs and support on-site commissioning.
• Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site install support.
• Support operations and asset management during handoff for reliability.
