Job summary

Intuit is seeking a senior payroll tax expert and SME to lead end-to-end resolution of complex payroll tax issues across notices, corrections, and amendments. The Staff Payroll Tax Processor will serve as a technical lead, owning the most complex cases while mentoring newer staff.

This role focuses on fixing payroll tax problems, filing amended returns across multiple states, and driving process improvements with knowledge transfer to the team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focusing on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and corrections across multiple states.
• Deep knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience filing Form 941-X and state returns across multiple states including PA and OH.
• Strong knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW, and payroll tax deposit schedules and penalties.
• Lead or SME experience with coaching junior staff.
• Advanced Excel for reconciliation and audit trails.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple periods or jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity resolving correction, amendment, and notice requests with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, and drive resolutions with root-cause analysis.
• Serve as real-time resource for senior processors and mentor teammates.
