Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead complex payroll tax defect resolution, amending returns and correcting errors across multiple states. This role focuses on solving hard tax problems and building team capability through coaching and SOP improvements.

The role involves acting as a senior SME, guiding junior staff, and driving end-to-end fixes while ensuring accurate documentation and knowledge transfer to the team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and payroll error correction across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notice types; ability to independently draft penalty abatement requests and agency response letters.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states, including PA, OH, etc.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex state and federal payroll tax notices in the queue, owning the full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end, including reconciliation to the original return.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; drive the complete correction workflow to resolution.
