Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Expert and SME to join Payroll Tax Operations as a Staff Payroll Tax Processor. You will own complex state and federal notices, prepare amended returns (941-X/W-2c), and drive end-to-end resolution across multiple states.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal notices; ability to draft agency responses with documentation.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X, W-2c).
• Deep knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW, and local tax compliance; strong Excel skills.
• Experience leading, coaching, and training junior staff; effective written communication.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex state and federal payroll tax notices end-to-end.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors across multiple periods; drive complete correction workflows.
• Maintain high productivity handling corrections, amendments, and notices with accuracy.
• Coach and coachability: lead sessions, share process knowledge, reduce dependency.
• Draft SOPs, KB articles, and participate in cross-functional tax authority discussions.
