Job summary

Oportun is seeking a Manager, Loan and Debt Accounting to oversee daily accounting for our loan portfolio and debt, ensuring accurate reporting and timely close. You will lead the month-end close, coach accounting staff, and implement scalable processes across Finance and Technology.

The role emphasizes AI-enabled tools and strong control environments. You should bring a CPA or progress toward CPA, plus 6+ years in accounting, with deep knowledge of US GAAP and lending-related accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to interpret and apply guidance.
• Experience with loan, lending, debt, or other financial-services accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting activities for loan portfolio and debt.
• Lead month-end close for loan- and debt-related accounts.
• Supervise and develop accounting team members.
• Strengthen processes and internal controls to reduce manual work.
