Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher.
• Professional coder certification (AHIMA and/or AAPC) maintained annually.
• 3+ years inpatient DRG coding experience in acute care.
• 3+ years ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS/DRG coding with encoder.
• Proficiency with Windows and Excel; familiarity with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify proper ICD-10 CM/PCS, DRG and abstraction for facility services.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Maintain coding quality per AAPC/AHIMA ethical standards.
• Meet performance standards for quality and productivity.
• Query physicians when needed.
• Keep coding knowledge current via QM Manager and Directors.
• Participate in department meetings and training.
• Additional duties as assigned by manager.
