Job summary

Optum, a global health services organization, is seeking a Senior Inpatient Medical Coder to deliver inpatient coding services remotely for hospital-based cases. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and assess DRG impact while following official guidelines and client-specific policies.

The role requires established AHIMA/AAPC credentials and strong chart-review discipline. Training is provided, with hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM during onboarding, and a telecommuter-friendly setup across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Inpatient medical coding experience with ICD-10 CM/PCS for hospital settings
• Maintain AHIMA/AAPC credentialing and coding guidelines
• Remote work experience preferred and ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and DRG impact
• Abstract additional data during chart review as needed
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in department meetings
• Adhere to coding quality and productivity standards set by management
