Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder for the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Coding Production Operations. The role covers a mix of inpatient community and academic coding across cardiology, neurology, and oncology service lines.

The position requires ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding proficiency, a coding certification (AAPC or AHIMA), and an Associate degree in Health Information Management. Remote work is possible for select states.

Qualifications

• Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA.
• Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Typically requires 7 years' inpatient coding experience in acute care settings.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes per guidelines.
• Ensure accurate code selection following Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high-dollar and long length of stay cases.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT, ICD guidelines and coding clinics; research coding topics as needed.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to ensure DRG accuracy.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records and report non-compliant practices.
