Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to join the Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Coding Production Operations. The role supports inpatient coding across cardiology, neurology, and oncology with a mix of community and academic cases.

This is a full-time opportunity with a standard 40-hour week and remote work eligibility for qualified states. Required certification (AAPC or AHIMA) and an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, with 7 years of inpatient coding

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Typically requires 7 years' inpatient coding experience in acute care with revenue cycle, CDI, and health information workflows.
• Certification in coding (AAPC or AHIMA) is required.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Ensure correct code selection following Official Coding Guidelines and compliance with regulations.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases for all patient types.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT assistant guidelines and coding clinics; query for clarifications as needed.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRGs and reconcile Medicare cases.
