ABB in the United States is seeking a Senior Technical Business Developer to expand the Grid Automation portfolio. This role blends advanced grid technologies with market penetration strategies, engaging utilities and partners to drive growth. Remote position with preferred hubs in Cary, NC or Houston, TX; up to 30% travel.

You will lead market strategy, serve as grid automation SME, contribute to standards, and build partnerships to evolve offerings like SSC600, SMU600, and CogniEN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related field.
• 9+ years of experience in technical business development, preferably in grid automation or power systems.
• Deep understanding of U.S. utility market dynamics, standards (IEEE, IEC 61850), and digital substation architectures.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with SaaS or subscription-based business models in the energy sector.
• Familiarity with DERMS, DLR, and network state estimation technologies.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% - domestic and international - may be required.

Responsibilities

• Market strategy leadership: Drive U.S. growth by identifying new utility/industrial automation opportunities and shaping penetration strategy.
• Technical engagement: Act as a grid automation SME, lead presales activities, and support solution design.
• Standards influence: Contribute to IEEE/IEC working groups and interoperability frameworks.
