ABB seeks a Senior Technical Business Developer to expand its Grid Automation portfolio in the U.S. market. You will bridge advanced grid technologies with market strategy, engaging utilities, partners, and stakeholders to grow solutions like SSC600 and SMU600.

The role reports to Product Marketing Director and involves remote work with preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX. Strong domain knowledge and travel up to 30% are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• 9+ years of experience in technical business development, preferably in grid automation or power systems.
• Deep understanding of U.S. utility market dynamics, standards (IEEE/IEC 61850) and digital substation architectures.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with SaaS or subscription-based business models in energy.

• Market strategy leadership—Drive U.S. growth by identifying utility opportunities and shaping penetration strategy.
• Technical engagement—Act as grid-automation SME and support solution design across architectures.
• Standards influence—Contribute to vPAC and IEEE working groups shaping standards.
