Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC International is seeking a Senior E&S Construction Underwriter to develop and manage a profitable middle-market book of business. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in E&S construction underwriting and a demonstrated ability to market to brokers and grow a territory.

You will evaluate risks, determine pricing, and manage a substantial book with minimal supervision while aligning with company guidelines and strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts.
• Ownership of a sizeable book of business (e.g., $3M–$5M+).
• Proven ability to market to brokers and grow a territory.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications, assign ratings, pricing, and endorsements.
• Communicate with brokers in a timely manner and provide underwriting guidance.
• Maintain documentation for new and renewal files and underwriting worksheets.
• Adhere to underwriting authority, guidelines, and company policies.
• Approve/deny within authority or escalate to higher authority as needed.
• Cultivate internal and external relationships to support business development.
• Develop understanding of factors affecting policy rating and risk.
