Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III to lead design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems on nationwide projects. The role is fully remote with travel for project execution as needed, delivering technical oversight and mentorship to project teams.

Candidates should have a strong background in electrical engineering with BESS, renewables, or power systems, plus experience in control strategies, simulations, and industry standards. PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems; including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools; NEC, IEEE, IBC, NFPA and utility standards knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical SME for BESS engineering scopes, providing guidance to project teams.
• Lead and manage the design and engineering of battery energy storage systems (BESS), ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses to recommend optimal BESS configurations and future augmentation provisions.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and AHJs.
• Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for BESS components to support procurement activities.
• Provide engineering support during construction, testing, validation, commissioning, energization, and initial synchronization.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay current with industry trends and standards.
