Job summary

United Federal Credit Union is seeking a relationship‑driven Business Development Officer to grow our SBA lending portfolio by developing new business opportunities, building referral partnerships, and guiding business owners through the financing process.

You will consult with clients, identify SBA loan solutions, coordinate with underwriting and closing teams, and ensure a smooth borrower experience that drives referrals and long‑term partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in SBA lending, commercial banking, commercial lending, or business development.
• Proven success building relationships and generating business opportunities.
• Strong understanding of SBA lending programs and commercial credit fundamentals.
• Ability to analyze business financial statements and identify financing solutions.
• Experience with SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs.
• Established network of referral partners and business professionals.
• Knowledge of SBA servicing and post-closing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Generate SBA lending opportunities through prospecting, networking, and referral partnerships.
• Build relationships with business owners, attorneys, accountants, commercial real estate professionals, brokers, and other centers of influence.
• Promote United's SBA lending solutions and expand market presence.
• Consult with business owners to understand financing needs and recommend SBA loan solutions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact from initial conversation through closing.
• Deliver an exceptional borrower experience that drives repeat business and referrals.
• Assist borrowers with applications and documentation requirements.
• Partner with underwriting, credit, legal, and closing teams to move loans through the pipeline.
• Ensure compliance with SBA programs, policies, and lending guidelines.
• Maintain expertise in SBA lending programs, industry trends, and market conditions.
• Attend networking and industry events to develop new business opportunities.
• Manage pipeline activity, CRM records, and performance reporting.
