Job summary

Rex.zone is seeking a Robotics Engineer for a fully remote, full-time role. You will design, test, and validate robotics capabilities using ROS 2, working across autonomy, perception, motion planning, and controls.

Responsibilities include building ROS 2 nodes, integrating sensors, developing perception pipelines, and tuning SLAM/localization. You will leverage Gazebo/Isaac Sim for validation and participate in regression testing to improve stability and latency.

Qualifications

  • Mid-senior experience delivering robotics software in production or advanced prototypes.
  • Strong C++ and Python skills.
  • Hands-on ROS/ROS 2 experience and ability to debug distributed systems.
  • Robotics fundamentals: kinematics, dynamics, estimation, and control.
  • Experience with SLAM/localization/mapping, motion planning, perception, or sensor fusion.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ROS 2 nodes, topics, services, and actions for core robot capabilities.
  • Integrate sensors (camera, LiDAR, IMU, encoders) and improve calibration and time synchronization.
  • Develop perception pipelines (computer vision, point clouds) and sensor fusion for robust state estimation.
  • Implement and tune SLAM, localization, and mapping for real-world environments.
  • Develop motion planning and control modules (trajectory generation, constraint handling, PID/MPC) and validate against targets.
  • Use Gazebo and/or Isaac Sim to reproduce issues, run regression tests, and accelerate iteration.
  • Define test plans, analyze logs / bags, debug failures, and ship measurable stability/latency/accuracy improvements.
