Job summary

Rex.zone is seeking a mid-senior Robotics Software Engineer for a fully remote role in the United States. You will design perception, localization, mapping, and motion planning modules using ROS/ROS 2, build robust control loops, and integrate diverse sensors for state estimation.

You will drive sim-to-real validation, develop QA-focused workflows, and collaborate across teams to enhance perception performance and reliability in production or advanced prototypes.

Qualifications

  • Measurable reliability of robotics software shipped to production or advanced prototypes.
  • Strong C++ and Python with clean architecture, profiling, and debugging practices.
  • Hands-on ROS/ROS 2 experience (nodes, TF frames, message timing, real-time constraints).
  • Solid fundamentals in SLAM, motion planning, and control systems.
  • Computer vision and sensor fusion experience (calibration, depth, detection or tracking).
  • Comfortable owning test plans, QA evaluation, and release readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robot software modules for perception, localization, mapping, and motion planning using ROS/ROS 2.
  • Build production-ready control loops and trajectory tracking, including tuning and stability analysis.
  • Integrate sensors (camera, LiDAR, IMU, wheel odometry) and implement sensor fusion pipelines for robust state estimation.
  • Develop simulation-first workflows (Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim, Webots, or similar) and drive sim-to-real validation.
  • Create automated QA evaluation for robotics behaviors: regression tests, scenario playback, and safety assertions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve robotics perception performance loops (data collection, labeling specs, error analysis).
