Job summary

Rex.zone seeks a Mid-Senior Robotics Engineer for a remote role. You will design and ship robotics software spanning perception, localization, planning, and control for real-world deployments.

You will work with ROS/ROS2, C++, and Python to build perception pipelines, SLAM, and navigation stacks, while collaborating with hardware teams to meet timing and compute constraints. This position offers remote work with competitive hourly compensation.

Qualifications

  • Mid-Senior experience building production robotics systems.
  • Strong C++ and Python skills.
  • Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 architecture, TF frames, launch systems, and debugging.
  • Familiarity with navigation, SLAM/localization, and control fundamentals.
  • Experience with Linux and performance profiling; ability to write testable code and reproducible experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robotics software using ROS/ROS2, C++, and Python.
  • Build perception and state-estimation pipelines using sensor fusion (IMU, LiDAR, cameras, wheel odometry).
  • Implement or integrate SLAM, localization, and navigation stacks.
  • Develop motion planning and control modules (trajectory generation, MPC/PID tuning where applicable).
  • Create simulation scenarios and regression tests in Gazebo (or similar) and validate behavior in sim and on hardware.
  • Instrument logs/telemetry, root-cause failures, and improve reliability and uptime.
  • Collaborate with hardware/embedded teams on drivers, timing, and compute constraints.
  • Document interfaces, runbooks, and testing procedures to support deployment and operations.
