Job summary

Guidant Financial, a fully remote company, is seeking a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to learn and administer 401(k) plans. You will review client documents, assist with year‑end reporting, and use Excel to reconcile plans while communicating progress to clients.

You will receive accelerated training and on‑the‑job experience to advance from document review to administering basic plans, including 5500 filings.

Qualifications

• 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in one or more areas: benefits admin, money movement, tax prep, loan docs, or compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Direct retirement‑plan operations experience (401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions, rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500/year‑end reporting) preferred.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business or finance, or equivalent work experience.
• Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain information for annual reporting.
• Review documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans using Excel and administration software; perform 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Prepare 401(k) government filings, including IRS Form 5500.
• Educate clients on retirement plan administration and documents.
• Make reminder calls and send emails during the plan year.
